2. Overview
Protecting your personal data matters to us. This privacy policy explains which data the app Metronom - PixeldevIO(“the app”) collects, processes and stores.
In short: the app collects and transmits no personal data. All data is stored only locally on your device and never leaves it.
3. Data collection and processing
3.1 No personal data
The app does not collect, store or transmit any personal data. In particular, it does not:
- collect names, email addresses or other contact details
- record location data
- collect device IDs or advertising identifiers
- collect usage statistics or analytics data
- transmit data to servers, cloud services or third parties
3.2 App data stored locally
The app stores the following data only locallyon your device (in the app’s own storage area):
- Metronome sequences: musical sequences you created or imported (tempo, time signature, sections, repeats, navigation marks)
- App settings: your preferences such as theme (light/dark), haptics, visualisation, count-in settings and click sound
- Metronome settings: the most recently used tempo (BPM) and time signature
- Custom time signatures: time signatures you created yourself
- Setlists and practice log: your setlists and the practice time per piece and day (deleted automatically after about a year)
- Practice tools: settings for gap click, polyrhythm and Pomodoro timer
This data serves only the app’s functionality and is never passed on to third parties or transmitted to external servers. When you uninstall the app, this data is deleted from your device automatically.
4. App permissions
The app requests the following permissions:
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Change audio settings (MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS) | Allows the metronome clicks to play through the device’s audio output. |
| File access (via the document picker) | Used only to import MusicXML files (.musicxml, .mxl). Only the files you explicitly select are accessed. |
| Haptics/vibration | Optional vibration feedback on the beat. Can be turned off in the settings. |
| Camera (flashlight only) | Optional visual flash on the beat. The flashlight can only be switched through the camera permission; no photos or videos are taken. Can be turned off in the settings. |
| Notification, background playback (Android: POST_NOTIFICATIONS, FOREGROUND_SERVICE, WAKE_LOCK) | So the click keeps running with the screen off and can be controlled from the lock screen. |
| Sharing | To export backup files via the system feature. You decide where the file goes. |
The app does not access your microphone, contacts, location or other sensitive device data. The camera is used only as a flashlight. On iOS the build contains a microphone usage description because the bundled audio library includes a recording feature; the app never asks for it.
5. Third-party services
The app uses no third-party services such as:
- analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics)
- crash reporting services (e.g. Sentry, Crashlytics)
- advertising services (e.g. AdMob)
- cloud storage or sync services
- social media integrations
- tracking or profiling services
6. Data transmission
No data is transmitted, neither to us nor to third parties. The app needs no internet connection for its core features.
7. Data security
Since all data is stored only locally on your device, its security depends on your operating system’s protections (e.g. screen lock, encryption). We recommend protecting your device with a PIN, a password or biometric authentication.
8. Your rights (GDPR)
Since the app neither collects nor processes personal data, the usual data subject rights under the GDPR (Art. 15–21) have practically no application. Nevertheless, you have the right to:
- access (Art. 15 GDPR)
- rectification (Art. 16 GDPR)
- erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
- restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
- data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
- object (Art. 21 GDPR)
You can remove your locally stored data completely at any time by uninstalling the app or clearing the app data in your device settings.
9. Children
The app is not aimed specifically at children but is suitable for all ages. Since no personal data is collected, there are no particular privacy risks for minors.
10. Google Play and Apple App Store
Downloading the app from Google Play or the Apple App Store is subject to the privacy terms of the respective store operator. We have no influence over this. You can find more information in Google’s privacy policy and in Apple’s privacy policy.
11. Changes to this privacy policy
We reserve the right to update this privacy policy as needed, for example when the app’s features change or new legal requirements arise. The current version is always available at this address.
